Twilight Zone Premiere to Feature a World Without Patriarchy

New details came out today about Jordan Peele’s upcoming Twilight Zone reboot, which will be streamed via CBS All Access starting next month.

According to Zazie Beetz (Deadpool 2), who will be co-starring in the series, the first episode will feature a world not dominated by the patriarchy.

The episode will reportedly follow Beetz’s character, a psychology doctoral student in Los Angeles, as she goes about her day unfettered by a constant barrage of misogyny.

“In the past, The Twilight Zone gave us a look at some pretty unbelievable scenarios, and our series will be no different,” Beetz told The Hollywood Reporter.

Though few details are known about the episode, the teaser released yesterday shows Beetz’s character jogging alone before sunrise, walking through a parking lot without gripping her keys like a weapon, and getting drinks with a man who does not attempt to explain psychology to her.

“The premise is pretty out there,” said Peele. “But I watched the original show as a kid and always loved how the extreme storylines really made you think.”

Apparently, the premise of the premiere is even more “extreme” than Peele suggests. Co-star Jennifer Godwin (Big Love) says that her character never once tries to touch Beetz’s hair and practices yoga to attain spiritual edification, not a more toned ass.
